Christian Leotta Piano Recital

On Tuesday 25 August, the Embassy hosted a piano recital by internationally acclaimed Italian pianist Maestro Christian Leotta at the prestigious Hunter Council Chamber at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington.

HE Ambassador Cristiano Maggipinto was delighted to welcome Hon Paul Goldsmith, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, HE Alfredo Pérez Bravo, members of the diplomatic community, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and a large audience, who gathered to enjoy a powerful and refined musical journey through the evolution of the piano sonata, from Scarlatti to Beethoven and Schubert, masterfully interpreted by Maestro Leotta.

The recital was introduced by Cav. Marco Sonzogni, Professor of Translation Studies at Te Herenga Wak, Victoria University of Wellington. The programme featured:

  • Domenico Scarlatti – Sonata in F minor, K. 466
  • Ludwig van Beethoven – Piano Sonata in C major, Op. 53 “Waldstein”
  • Franz Schubert – Piano Sonata in F-sharp minor, D. 571
  • Ludwig van Beethoven – Piano Sonata in C minor, Op. 111
