{"id":5444,"date":"2026-07-07T13:09:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T01:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambwellington.esteri.it\/?p=5444"},"modified":"2026-07-07T13:15:45","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T01:15:45","slug":"red-severe-weather-warning-for-heavy-rainfall-and-flooding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambwellington.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2026\/07\/red-severe-weather-warning-for-heavy-rainfall-and-flooding\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall and flooding."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The New Zealand Meteorological Service has issued <strong>Red<\/strong> and <strong>Orange Severe Weather Warnings<\/strong> for the northern part of the South Island.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>Red Warning<\/strong> has been issued for <strong>heavy rain and ongoing flooding<\/strong> in the <strong>Kaik\u014dura<\/strong> and <strong>Waitaki<\/strong> districts.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Red Warning<\/strong> has been issued for <strong>heavy rain<\/strong> in the <strong>Marlborough<\/strong> district and the northern part of the <strong>Canterbury<\/strong> district.<\/li>\n<li>An <strong>Orange Warning<\/strong> has been issued for the remainder of the <strong>Canterbury<\/strong> district and the western part of the <strong>Tasman<\/strong> district.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Italian nationals are strongly advised to limit non-essential travel in the affected areas and to exercise particular caution due to the risk of flooding, landslides, and strong winds.<\/p>\n<p>Italian nationals are also advised to monitor the situation through the official MetService website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metservice.com\/\">www.metservice.com<\/a> for any further weather warnings.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, they are encouraged to follow updates and guidance from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civildefence.govt.nz\/\">www.civildefence.govt.nz<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz\/highway-conditions\">www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz\/highway-conditions<\/a> regarding road conditions, and to comply with instructions issued by local authorities, including those broadcast by RNZ and through official information channels.<\/p>\n<p>For information on flood preparedness, please refer to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.getready.govt.nz\/emergency\/floods\">www.getready.govt.nz\/emergency\/floods<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Embassy remains ready to assist Italian nationals through its emergency number: <strong>+64 (0) 27 444 8259<\/strong>.
