Inauguration Ceremony of the “Central Interceptor”- Auckland

The Embassy informs that on 7 July, Amb. Cristiano Maggipinto attended in Auckland the official inauguration ceremony of the “Central Interceptor”, a 16-kilometre underground wastewater disposal tunnel serving Auckland Harbour.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Auckland, the CEO of “Watercare”, and Senior Executives of the Italian Company “Ghella”, which completed this remarkable project after 7 years of construction. Nearly 4,000 people, both Italian and New Zealanders, contributed to its successful delivery: an outstanding example of collaboration between our two countries in a vital sector such as wastewater management.

Congratulations to the Auckland Council, “Watercare”, and “Ghella” on this remarkable achievement.
