Emergency

  • Following a significant civil defence event, the New Zealand Police would activate a New Zealand specific page on the ICRC Restoring Family Links website. The webpage enables people to self-register their status. Registrants can either register as “I am alive” or register others as “missing”. This information is then visible for the public on the webpage. As part of the registration process, registrants must include their nationality. This allows New Zealand Police to maintain accurate and real time records of the nationalities of people registered and affected by the event. The generic Restoring Family Links website can be viewed at: https://familylinks.icrc.org/en/pages/home.aspx. Following a major civil defence event, this webpage would include a link to the New Zealand specific webpage.
