PRIMAVERA ITALIANA. ITALIAN SPRING IN NEW ZEALAND
With New Zealand open again to the world, the Embassy of Italy in Wellington is glad to promote a vast program of cultural and community events that will take place in the next few months across the country. We have called this program, Primavera italiana. We like to think that after a long winter we are now ready to embrace a new season of cultural inspiration. ARTS
September 21-October 22: Macbeth - Opera by Giuseppe Verdi and Francesco Maria Piave by NZ Opera at Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre in Auckland, St James Theatre in Wellington and Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch.
October 5-30: Orion Piano Trio – Classical music series organized by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington in collaboration with l’Accademia Music School. Concerts will take place in several venue accross New Zealand including St Andrew on the Terrace in Wellington (October 28) and the Concert Chamber of the Auckland Town Hall (October 30).
October 30: Italian Moods - Concert organised at Nelson Centre of Musical Arts by Comites Nuoiva Zelanda, in collaboration with Nelson Arts Festival, to celebrate the romance and passion of Italian arts.
November 18-19: Lumino City - Thanks to the collaboration with the Wellington Lantern Festival a lantern representing Italy will be showcased in the World Prescint at Lumino City.
LANGUAGE
October 17-23: Italian Language Week - Several events promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington in collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington, University of Auckland, Dante Alighieri Society in Auckland and Christchurch, Circolo Italiano of Wellington.
October 19: Pasolini’s Cat – To mark the 100 years anniversary from the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini, the Embassy of Italy in Wellington, Cuba Press and Victoria University Professor Marco Sonzogni have collaborated to the curation of a very special publication. The book will be launched on October 19 at Unity Books in Wellington.
CINEMA
June 2022-January 2023: Cinema Italiano Festival (21 different venues across NZ).
November 2-17: Italian Film Festival in Wellington, Empire Cinema. Opening Night on November 2. Italian Film Festival Wellington Launch organized by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington at the Embassy Theatre on October 26 (by invitation only).
COMMUNITY
October 30: Nelson Italian Festival. Community festival organized by Italian Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand and Club Italia Nelson.
November 5: Aldo Cuccurullo Memorial Trophy. 27th edition of the annual football game between the Club Italia and Garibaldi Club hosted this by year by Club Italia in Nelson.
November 13: Festival Italiano Auckland. Street Festival promoting Italianicity organized by the Newmarket Business Association in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Auckland. Cultural and entertainment program supported by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington. Opening Night Event on October 31 (by invitation only).
November 27: Italian Children Christmas Party. Traditional Christmas party at the Garibaldi Club in Wellington.
December 6: Italian Christmas Party. Christmas celebration Italian-style organised by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington (by invitation only).
FOOD
November 14-21: Italian Cuisine Week. Several events organised by Italian restaurants and cafes across New Zealand.
November 15: Italian Cuisine Week Launch and Italian organic and natural wines tasting organized by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington (by invitation only).
November 14-17: Italian cooking classes. Cooking classes organized by the Embassy of Italy in Wellington in collaboration with Cordon Bleu NZ and Nicla Café.
